Organic raw materials are petrochemical industries that use petroleum and natural gas as raw materials, and use grain fermentation to produce alcohol or solvents. The raw material gas after coal gasification and the coal tar recovered by dry distillation are produced or fractionated to produce various organic chemical products. In our country’s organic chemical industry, the route of generating acetylene from calcium carbide from coal, the route of synthesizing methanol and formaldehyde by coal gasification, the route of recovering benzene, naphthalene, anthracene and other routes from coal tar, and the route of producing alcohol by fermentation and distillation with grain as raw material were developed.

Uses of Organic Raw Material Products
Organic raw material products have a wide range of uses, which can be divided into three aspects:
- Raw material for the production of polymer chemical products, that is, monomers for polymerization reactions
- Used in other organic chemical industries, including raw materials for fine chemical products
- Used in solvents, refrigerants, antifreeze, gas adsorbents
Basic organic chemical industry is the basis for the development of various organic chemical products, and is the main component of the modern industrial structure.
Organic Raw Materials Classification
The direct raw materials used in basic organic chemicals mainly include: hydrogen, carbon monoxide, aliphatic hydrocarbons (methane, ethylene, acetylene, propylene, aliphatic hydrocarbons above C4), aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene), etc.
From crude oil, petroleum fractions or low-carbon pyrolysis gas, refinery gas and coal gas, after separation treatment, it can be made into aliphatic hydrocarbon feedstock for different purposes; from catalytic reforming reformed gasoline, hydrocarbon cracking pyrolysis gasoline As well as from coal tar from coal retort, aromatics can be separated from raw materials; appropriate petroleum fractions can also be used directly as raw materials for certain products; from wet natural gas, other low-carbon alkanes other than methane can be separated; from coal gasification and natural gas, refining The steam conversion or partial oxidation of factory gas, petroleum fractions or crude oil can be made into synthesis gas; calcium carbide made from coke, or acetylene can be made from natural gas and naphtha cracking. In addition, raw materials can also be obtained from agricultural and forestry by-products.
